Soft spoken, speech broken
The sum greater than its parts,
Quiet storms batter the restless mind
But words they do not spark
Just fears of an overbearing nature
Where old habits conquer new sensations
This fixation with one's identity
Is the root of all frustration
No one can see within the sanctum
But a ghostly war is being won
And once the demons are all cast away
Ones true self can enjoy the sun
The Firefighter
Doubt; it spreads like fire
Engulfing all thought in flames
It burns bright blinding rationality
Until uncertainty is all that remains
Too long the fires raged in my mind
No more will the embers singe me
Doused with cool calm waves of confidence
The firefighter was always within me
