I read "DMT: The Spirit Molecule" by Dr. Rick Strassman a number of years ago - can hardly remember most of it now, but it was definitely interesting. Check it out, if you want to learn more about the drug. Not hard to find online. There are clips of Doug Stanhope and Joe Rogan (yes, the Fear Factor/UFC guy) on YouTube as well, talking about their experiences with DMT. Sounds intriguing, though incredibly intense. As for a "gateway" to anything...meh, I don't know. I'd imagine that, as with most psychedelics, one could easily have a positive, life-changing, mind-expanding experience, though.
