I mean, the news of his death made me sad, I didn't break down crying, though I can understand why some of his more devoted fans would. I admit I got a little teary eyed when I heard about Rick Wright's passing.
But c'mon, suicide threats? It's not like you knew him personally, and it's certainly not like he was gonna put out more great music any time soon. People die, even our pop culture icons. The guy will be imortalized through his music, and that's what people loved him for.
But yeah, that's typical white people behavior for you. I mean you know how it goes down at black funerals, they don't sit around and sob, they get on the soul train. They celebrate the man and the legacy.
That's what they did with James Brown and Biggie, that's what we should do now.
