If not, a wake is when after the funeral, people go back to a pub and have a few drinks and eat a bit of buffet.

Over here it's not the wake that has the food, it's the repast that has the food. The repast is the little get together that happens right after the funeral, kind of the funeral equivalent of a wedding reception. As someone else mentioned, wakes happen a day or two before the funeral and there is no food at them.
