yeah so as much as i hate quoting lame ohio-based magazines that usually don't know shit about shit, i'm much too underqualified to describe the musical behemoth that is volta do mar. originating from chicago, like all good bands do, volta do mar sound at times like your typical math rock shredfest dudes. other times they sound like jungle cats that somehow grew thumbs and learned how to make desert music from siberian sun gods, the kind that only come out once every few eons or so. "At The Speed Of Light Or Day" is one of the best albums i've heard in a while in the post-rock genre, a genre that i'd loved until repetitive atonal guitar chords played over dramatic drumming got boring.
