I love
Pinback. You might check out some other bands that feature frontman
Rob Crow (his solo work,
Other Men,
Heavy Vegetable, and Thingy) although most of those are a bit rougher in sound.
Other Men is the one I would recommend most out of those, as it's the most recent. You may also check out the bass player's previous band,
Three Mile Pilot though they have a rather dark/somber sound and don't sound much like
Pinback. Great band though, reuniting as we speak.
As for bands not related but having a similar sound, I would recommend
The Shins,
Death Cab For Cutie,
Postal Service,
Spoon,
Minus the Bear,
The New Pornographers (and
A.C. Newman's solo stuff). There are probably many others but I really don't listen to a lot of their contemporaries.
