Dad likes Bob Dylan which is pretty cool, but he also likes Bob Dylan's shitty henchmen, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, and lately he's into Billy Joe Shaver and it's really annoying hearing him sing his songs. He does enjoy The Clash however, and I burn CDs of my music and he has liked to some of it.
My mom's taste is pretty crappy, she likes 80's pop/rock like Bryan Adams, and she absolutely adores when my brother sings Coldplay and Jason Mraz songs on guitar. At least she tells my dad to cut it out when she gets sick of him playing Billy Joe Shaver songs.
And neither of them can tolerate music with screaming, so automatic fail right there.
