I know what you mean about when you go elsewhere. My accent isnt that strong really, although it seems to get a lot stronger when i'm drinking for some reason. If im anywhere outside of the North East though I think i automatically dumb it down a lot so they can understand me better.
Against my better judgement I have tried Haggis yes. I didn't like it but I didn't ever expect to either
I don't mind the accents of most Scottish people at all, it's just I really cant understand very broad Glasweigan. I used to work in a call centre, the indian lads and the Glasweigans were always entertaining. Neither could understand a word the other was saying at all.
