My friend has exactly the same thing. He has to take anti-histamines (I'm not going to pretend to know the spelling but there's some phonetics for you) daily otherwise he turns into elephant man or gets massive swelling lumps on random parts of his body. If he forgets he has an eppy pen to dig into his leg and inject. He's not allergic to anything it's just his body one day clicked on and started over producing histamines for now known reason. There's every chance that one day his body will just turn that off and he'll be back to normal.
