I like my crime/film noir- Key Largo, Maltese Falcon, Asphalt jungle but I just couldn't get into this at all

Maybe if I had read the graphic novel I could appreciate the film more. Astounding visuals but the acting was uniformly bad across the whole film and although the film was about neutrality or 'the lesser evil', I still have to root for characters whether good or bad and feel for them. I couldn't give a rat's ass in this film. Style over substance.
