Ha ha, Conan, that is a funny song about poisoned food...I esp. liked the fact that Hass Avocados are poisoned. Not just Avocados, but *Hass* avocados. Yes, there is beauty in the preposterous.
I think the sauce on cake in *your* absurd song stood out in my mind because it didn't strike me as absurd so much as simply novel. (I was trying to be absurd in my post by focusing on one detail of the song, as if it were a very important part, but now that I think of it there may be an actual valid reason for my focus). When I read about sauce on cake I started thinking, "Is he from Australia or Britain? Sauce on cake sounds like something they might do there. Some sort of custard sauce, perhaps." Then I started to think, "'Is sauce on cake' a cliche or metaphor I managed to miss during my upbringing?" In other words, the sauce on cake didn't seem absurd enough to me to match the humor of a children's rap choir. It distracted me from the absurdity. Now, maybe "cake with all the salad fixings" or "cake with all the butter beans," foods that I'd never imagine eating together (until now), would seem more absurd and in keeping with the rest of the song?
