-Led Zeppelin was not overrated at all, the band was ****ing great.
-The Beatles, however, were.
-Bat for Lashes' Two Suns was mostly a piece of crap with two powerful songs.
-Veckatimest and Hospice are two other albums that were decent but highly overrated.
-The new DOOM album is nowhere nearly as good as anything he has done before.
-I don't worship Pitchfork, nor do I despise it. I absolutely cannot understand why people hate it so much, sure they pick some complete **** for bands sometimes to hype but I guess the reviewers like them.
-Built to Spill was one of the most overrated bands from the 90s. Also, I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One was not a good album.
-Steel guitar is probably the worst instrument ever created. If a song has one in it, there is about a 98% chance that I will not like it.
-Choking Victim is better than Leftover Crack.
-I think that being an indie hipster that only listens to music that no one else knows about would be a better compromise than not listening to music at all or only listening to the crappy popular radio stations.

That's about all I can think of right now. You can all hate me now :p
- agreed that foo fighters are pretty generic, and i definitly dont like them at all.

- beatles are NOT overrated, they are the definition of originality and musicianship. there songs all though not as common as most popular music contain alot more musical talent than most bands that simply have two guitars, bass, drums. BUT im definitly not a big fan of them i just respect their work.

- seeing as how everything is a trend now, i would rather NOT be that guy who is " to cool" to like mainstream stuff. of course i dont follow todays popular music but their is nothing wrong with appreciating the musical talent that a popular band has such as :

RHCP
Zepplin
Green Day ( especially american idiot, that album IS amazing. )

i believe that the popularity of a band doesnt change my opinion of them as long as they are actual musicians. if they can give a clinic on an instrument or just the song writing process and i can benefit from it then i respect them no matter how many people love them.

-also a tonne of indie music is terrible. the musician ship tends to be better because they try to do something differnt and have a new sound but im not gunna instantly like them just because people dont know them.

- lil wayne has terrible rap. the concept of rap is that it is a repeating solo section that is catchy and then a rapper does a vocal solo over top of it. the rhymes are like the phrases of a solo so each time he rhymes two words it becomes its own phrase, the quality of each phrase is based on its originalty, catchyness, and relevance to what the rapper is trying to talk about and flow. wich basically means that if a rapper is harder to understand because all the words seem to blend together he has really good flow, and if you listen to the rapper acouple more times and get used to his style and you can actually understand what he is saying without having to boggle your mind about it you will realize that he is amazing at slewing words together to make them FLOOOOWW.

ex. of great flow. Nas - Halftime

Nasty nas,has to rise, to survive, this is excersize till the microphone dies.

of course these are all said with utmost respect just my thoughts on different opinions.
