Goats-Tricks of the Shade
when i got this album, i've never heard of these guys so i didn't know what to expect. luckily enough BTown knew i liked alternative hip hop so i really enjoyed this one.
the songs on here flow really well and are very politically influenced. from what i gather, the story of it is about a kid without a family venturing into a bizzare carnival looking for his "Uncle Scam"(play on words, huh?). in the carnival he finds some very wrong things, like a Native American in the freakshow and an "Asian Shooting Gallery". the interludes, while relatively short, say alot about the social and racial inequalities and standards of this country and how some people get screwed over by the system. not a new concept, but i really liked how they went about it and utilized the carnival idea.
overall, i give this album a 9/10, a pretty good listening and eye opening experience
