I have never understood how Melee has gone on to please the hardcore. I absolutely loved Melee, don't get me wrong, but you're right - it was overrated. The amount of clones were ridiculous. To be quite honest, I don't understand the major difference between the gameplay of Melee and Brawl, but then again, I haven't played Melee in years. To my knowledge it was slightly slower and, obviously, didn't feature the amount of weaponry/smash balls... but you can turn all those off anyway
