What I don't like is when a song seems to be trying to be blatantly "country" (by blatantly "country" I mean that it sounds as if everyone is wearing a cowboy hat and boots as part of a fake recreation of a lifestyle that few people actually follow now), or the song seems trite...overly simplistic and repetitive in theme or word choice. Songs that seem trite, over-simplistic, or lacking in originality can exist in all genres. My general feeling about country music is that it can offer solace to people who are feeling down-and-out. The songs can be very sweet and hopeful.
