Default Frankmusik – Pop Music’s Savior

I first discovered Frankmusik over at last.fm at a time when, for one reason or another, I was enthralled with modern electrorock and pop music in the UK. Standing out amongst other great musicians from the UK such as Friendly Fires and The Whip, Frankmusik has been on my radar as one of the up and coming musicians who I think really has a shot at making it big.

When I discovered Frank, he was still in the midst of getting himself promoted. The available tracks on his MySpace page such as Made Her Smile and In Step immediately hooked me with their high octane synth-beats and Frank’s even catchier voice. I check his page often for new songs, hoping to hear similar music.

This past August (09) Frankmusik released his first full length album entitled Complete Me. Though we live in an age where people no longer buy albums, I implore you to pick up this album ASAP! As someone who listens to more Death Metal than any other genre, I can assure you that Frankmusik will appeal to even the most long haired metalhead.

The songs Better Off As 2 and 3 Little Words (music video’s are posted on Frank’s myspace page) have been floating around for a while now. As someone who is not usually a fan of music videos, I can actually say that these are really good and entertaining. Confusion Girl is another amazing track with its catchy chorus. My ultimate favorite Frankmusik song, Vacant Heart, has one of the most amazing choruses that I have ever heard! As cynical and anti-pop culture as I am, it takes a lot for me to say something positive about the lyrics of a pop song, let alone one about love! I must confess however, that these lyrics are very genuine and skilfully put together within the song.

“But every one’s a vacant heart, when will love move in.
It’s in the news that we all lose when love ain’t moving in.
I only have these empty rooms and they’re all filled with space
And I can’t seem to find much love in this place
And the doors that close behind leave me standing cold outside
I’m just a vacant heart”

Amazing.

Though Frank’s music is labeled as “pop”, I have a hard time adhering it to this label. This is because he has a very innovative sound that I think separates him from the over-saturated pop songs we hear everyday on the radio. Though Frank utilizes synthesizers and electronic sounds in his music, I would also say that it defies another label that has been applied to his music, electropop. Regardless of what genre you may classify Frank’s music, it has a groove and feel that will having you bobbing your head immediately – like it or not I promise you, you will find yourself singing those songs to yourself over and over in your car or in your shower.

Do yourself a favor and get to know the music of Frankmusik. I think if anybody has a shot at making it big Frankmusik does so don’t say I didn’t warn you! Frank’s combination of synths, dance grooves, positive energy, and authentic lyrics, set him way beyond any of the corporate pop-junk music that we are brainwashed with day in and day out. Frankmusik is exactly what the doctor ordered to remedy the drab repetition of mainstream radio.
