Every now and then there's a great romantic movie that not only touches me but breaks from convention. Like Lost in Translation, Punch Drunk Love, Amelie, etc. Last great romantic film I've seen? Wall-E. Yeah I said it.
But yeah, for the most part, romance films are the absolute bottom of the Hollywood barrell.
I loved Edward Scissorhands, it's one of my favorite films, it was unusual in typical Burton fashion, but at the same time it felt very old fashioned, and I loved that. It was an imaginative twist on what is probably the world's oldest story premise.
