Wire, Send

I'm really digging this one right now. After a series of over-computerized electronic albums in the 80's, they've gone back to their punk roots. It's harder and heavier than anything they've done since Pink Flag, and it had just as much substance and power as that classic. If Bruce Gilbert had to leave, this was the way to do it.

Bill Nelson, Chance Encounters in the Garden of Lights

I was never a huge fan of Bill Nelson's band, BeBop Deluxe, but his solo career has been rich and rewarding. This is his best work, showing just how textured and evocative ambient keyboard pieces can be, and the lyrics inspired by his Gnostic beliefs are quite moving as well. Too bad he's languished in obscurity for a while now.
