In this dark room - at least for my cartridge - the frame rate drops and these random boxes start popping up (keys, "p" balloons, etc) and if one appears on you it kills you instantly. One box popped up and knocked me through the solid ground off the screen (death), which shouldn't be possible. Is this supposed to happen, or is it a glitch in my cartridge? It seems like it is worse now than when I played it as a kid in the mid-90s. Anyone?

I think it's a glitch. I've beaten Super Mario World a few times and I've never had that happen
