Buckethead. Petrucci comes close (proud prog nation attendant here), but nothing can top the Bucket when it comes to progressive guitar.
There's just no one like him. How many guitarists with such technical talent play so many genre's of music? Very few. How many of those very few guitarists can write songs as good as "The Landing Beacon"? None.
Though, if I considered Hendrix a progressive guitarist, I might have agreed with the guy who said Hendrix.
