I feel like this sort of thing hits more on a personal level, but "Stone in Focus" by Aphex Twin evokes a strong feeling of loneliness in me. Reminds me of being a kid when everything was simple...
In terms of indie music though I'd check out Rebellion Lies by Arcade Fire for an easy one to attach some emotions to.
