Paul was certainly the energy of the group and wrote some of their most memorable songs. John was pure brilliance but my personal fav was certainly George, very spiritual and had to fight to get his songs on the albums and the songs that he had on those albums were quite simply gems, its no small matter, that so many groups and singers out there have covered his Beatles work.
