I'm not a big fan of Westerns either but if you are looking for something a little more 'Cult' and just as influential as Leone's work then you have to check this out from 1966:
High Plains Drifter is one of my favourite westerns, the atmosphere is superb. Also you can't beat either Shane or High Noon for classic Westerns. Another under appreciated gem right here:
