Yeah I know what you mean, and I personally think Australians putting on American accents, or any other nationalities putting on fake accents, is silly. I too hate hearing really bad accents, and to just reverse the roles for a minute, I've never heard an American actor put on a good Australian accent and it does sh
it me when I'm watching the film and also think - why bother.
