I don't know if it could be classified as bizarre or trippy, but Akira Kurosawa's Dreams was intensely surreal. There's a film coming out called Gendai no No that Kurosawa never finished shooting in the 80s and his son has taken it off the shelf to add another 60 minutes to it! If all goes according to plan, it should be coming out on Kurosawa's 100th birthday!
