Well thank you all! I hope it live up to your expectations.
@ Lat: I am a citizen, but I never could understand this place to find myself belonging to it.

------

Seems like I got enough time to start with it today.

I- My beginnings in music 1.0

Like every child living in Lebanon, waking up very early in the cold winter mornings, with my dad driving us to school, listening to the local radio, all we can get is Fairuz.

On every radio channel, from 5:30 a.m till 7:30 a.m, all local radios are broadcasting songs by Fairuz, a local cult singer that has been singing since the 1950s. As the only thing I was listening to, Fairuz was bound to become my first favorite singer, tho she's not much appreciated by youngsters. Growing up, I understood her iconic importance. She never wrote or composed any song, she's only the voice, the performer, the feeler, even her name is just a nickname given to her by one of the local poets (Fairuz= Turquoise stone). Her songs were written and composed mainly by her husband Assi Rahbany, who was the first to discover her talent before marrying her, later her son Ziad Rahbany, and all the biggest Lebanese, Syrian and Egyptian musicians and poets alive. Lebanon was considered then a culturally "poor" country, even Lebanese snobs would talk in a fake Egyptian accent. So she was the first to bring the Lebanese music to the surrounding countries, and every thing changed since to Lebanese music, somehow similar to the "British Invasion".

Just something to clarify here: The Arab world, is considered to this part of the country as "The World" itself. Usually it's, known in your neighborhood, in your own country, then known in the world. Here, it's known in your country, known in the Arab world, and to others it's known in Lebanon=known in the whole Arab world (that's some big improvement). However, the ones that don't sing in the Arabic language, skip the 'Arab World' level and just throw themselves in the French/UK or American market, doesn't work that much, but we'll keep hoping.

The songs of Fairuz are a mix of traditional, classical and Jazz music. A lot of corky songs in her discography, made for her roles in the many local musical movies, and of course the great classic tracks that I still love.

Here are some tracks for you, just to know what I'm talking about:

If you liked the style, or curious to hear more songs, I can get you some links, or just recommend some songs to listen to on youtube maybe.

II- Weird place to be in

Here comes the section where I can just share the weird stuff I found out:

Starting from Thursday last week:
_It is illegal for a boy to walk in the street with a low pants that makes his boxer visible.
_It is illegal for a girl to show her belly.
_Being "emo" is illegal also.

III- In my life

Last time I genuinely cried, was last month when I found out my mum threw my collection of Pokemon cards.

VI- Song(s) I'm digging

The songs I have been 'Seuss'iding over and over again, this week are two:

Just the innocence and naivety in this song are so pure, it just truly speaks to my heart in a weird way. You can feel your heart aching the second you press play and listen. Just marvelous song, thanks for Bulldog for recommending this album especially. I will definitely check other albums. Suggestions are open on that subject.

The other magnificent song is:

I had to upload this one myself, I can't believe there's no video of it. Another great song, discovered with the help of the Beginner's guide to R.SM made by Molecules. Other than not getting enough of Moore's songs, it's this song in particular that I find myself looping at every time.
