You seem to think that I'm hating on these albums. But, if you take that statement in the context of the rest of my post (as you should), you would discover that I have not listened to them yet.
And before you say "well that's just close-minded and you're not giving them a fair chance", I fell into the trap of listening to the most hyped indie albums last year, and there's a good few hours of my life that I will never get back. And that is why when a band like Grizzly Bear comes along and gets all of this sudden praise I can only shrug.
Indie is not something I feel obligated to listen to anymore. I'll listen to albums that interest me and frankly Veckitamest and Merriweather Post Pavillion don't do that (and looking back, neither do Vampire Weekend's self-titled or Microcastle).
