If you also notice that web pages load slower and music and any other downloadable thing downloads slower than normal, then it could be one, or a combination of, several things:

1) your internet connection is not operating at its previous speed/bandwidth.
Are you connected to your internet router/modem via WIFI, or are you using a LAN cable? If you're using a LAN cable, visually inspect the cable to make sure it hasn't been stepped on or rolled over too much to the point that it's damaged. Usually when that happens you'll get a lot of timeouts and slow upload/download speeds, or complete loss of connectivity if the damage is severe enough. If you're certain the cable isn't damaged due to it not being in a high traffic area and your cat or dog hasn't been nibbling at it, then:

2) Your computer may be infected with spyware and/or viruses.
If you have a virus scanner, scan your drives. If your virus scanner features a spyware scanner, use that as well. There are some free spyware programs out there on the web as well. Using at least two REPUTABLE spyware programs in conjunction with one another is usually the most beneficial.

3) Your Internet Service Provider (aka Verizon, Cox, whatever) may be having issues with your DSL line if using DSL, or Cable, respectively.
If you're using dial-up, stop reading this, cancel your dialup service, and get something faster because that's just ridiculous.
Contact your ISP and ask them if there are any issues currently affecting your service. If they say no, get a tech on the phone and let him walk you through verifying your settings on your DSL/Cable modem. If nothing comes of that, use the opportunity to grill him about your issue and get him to offer some alternative solutions. You're paying for connectivity, so you're entitled to support. To what extent they'll offer that support... you'll find that out when you talk to them.

Let me know if any of that helps at all.

P.S...
Clear your temporary internet files in your browser before you do anything mentioned above, then restart your browser and test a download.
