That's pretty much what happened. The boy pretended to flirt with her, and said some pretty rude things, but this is all from her account so we can't really know if it's to be trusted.
The thing is Emmet Till was from Chicago which was a billion times less racist than Mississippi so he didn't know how to behave so that he wouldn't get in trouble. Bryant and Milam were just fu
cks.
It's been called the "catalyst of the civil rights movement" though, so I guess some good did come out of it.
