not to take stay on the of montreal topic...but is that only album you have heard by them? if so...you really should check out their later material. kevin barnes has developed into an amazing musician. cherry peel and a lot of their early albums are a far cry in quality compared to albums like hissing fauna are you the destoyer? and the sunlandic twins.
if you liked anything about cherry peel at all it is safe to say you will really enjoy their later albums.
