Most people will hold Goodfellas as Scorsese's crowning achievement, but to me this is my favourite of his impressive library. It may be because this movie is sort of the Goodfella's for my generation.
I absolutely love that film, and it's probably my pick of his works as well (which is saying something for the man who gave us Mean Streets, Casino, Raging Bull, the King Of Comedy and so on). The acting is obsolutely superb, and I love how the film gets you to sympathise just as much with one side of the good/bad spectrum as the other.

^ Whenever someone asks me what my favourite movies are, this is one of the first ones I think of. Magnificent set-pieces, thoroughly well-rounded story and characters, and the ending really wraps things up in style. Quite possibly my favourite western too.

^ And, suprisingly enough, and despite how rubbish that poster looks, this wasn't half bad. Pretty good actually. The story isn't the best I've seen (there are a few 'well I never saw that one coming' moments), but this kinda mixes up the buddy movie and the thriller quite nicely - has this interesting way of being able to make you chuckle one minute and get a bit unnerved the next. It's got one of the more memorable chase scenes I've seen, so decent stuff all round.
