I stay out of mosh pits now, i have to admit and sometimes they can be annoying when you just want to enjoy the show. But its very easy to stay out of a pit and for it not to affect your enjoyment of a show. However, if you go down the front and middle of any crowd, its something you have to expect.
Either way, its not something to hold against a band.
And yes, bottle fights are common at festivals. At least they are in England. They usually arent aimed at the band, its usually a fight between two sides of a crowd.
