Hum, about Kamelot, well. I have a general guilty pleasure in that I like a bit of power metal made by the sort of people who really sound like they never truly gave up playing dungeons & dragons in their parents basement (neither did I in a way, so that might be where the appeal comes from). Thematically, the songs are often about holy dragons, mighty warriors and other sorts of epicness. However, some of the most embarassing out of the bunch I think might be Kamelot's medieval ballads which, rather than being power metal are more sort of derivative of what these kind of bands might think of when they're feeling emotional.
I think they're embarassing because while such bands may agree that their songs have comedic potential, I'm sure Kamelot's ballads are only meant to be heartfelt and beautiful and they are I think .. It also makes them cheesy as hell so I don't play them too loud.
