To be earnest only oldschool heavy metal bands like metal church or saxon and many bands from BWOBHM as well as American old heavy metal bands might be called true metal...And Black Sabbath - it just sounds like blues to be earnest but still it's good and heavy. GLAM METAL IS "FALSE METAL" YOU PRICKS!!!"Posers" are they. But still they play lots of good stuff. Different sorts of music are created according to the different feelings ... You listen what is good for you , what you like, not what ****ing children call true metal.
For me there are two ways to indicate wether metal is false
- when the vocalist sings like ***got (it is a cheap commertial trick eg. Ill Nino or Killswitch Engage. I don't say it sucks because music is good, even Tom Araya admires the Killswitch Engage , watch Get Thrashed)
- but probably the most effective way to check for false metal is wether the album sucks. Even the "enemies" of heavy metal like Limp Bizkit have good **** for ears...carnifex is deathcore...but it sounds ****ing amazing. Alice in chains combines metal with grunge, but still their new album was amazing.
