Default My Buyers Rights

I've been struggling all over the net for useful information about this sort of thing, but I eventually concluded that you intelligent folk of MB would probably know a bit about this. Or at least one of you will.

So, I was bought a 28 inch LCD TV for Christmas two years ago, five year warrantee. Lines started appearing down it a few months ago, only recently got around to sorting it out for repairs. It was taken in about a week ago, and they've now told us that it will cost too much for Parts and Labour so instead they are going to give us a new TV. They said it will be a 'like for like' exchange, in that they will give us a 28 inch LCD TV back.

But I don't think that's right.

Regardless of whether that size of TV has now decreased in value, it was bought at the time for £549 and we are now only being offered £349 worth of television. Surely the television we are given back should only be based upon the amount it was originally bought for, and not what tv's are going for nowadays?

I find it unfair that the original TV is not being fixed because it would cost them too much, so instead they are offering us a piece of equipment that is £200 less than what was originally paid.

What are my rights for this sort of thing? Am I correct?
