I'd go into it more, and the entire arc and theme of the bible but I didn't nessicarily want to discuss that. I don't think the bible is to blame for these people. Obviously they have problems and they are using religion as a scapegoat to justify these attitudes and problems.

I agree they are to blame for their own actions. But as a side note the Bible is
very internally inconsistent, not surprising for a collection of different mythologies that has existed in different forms in different times and places.
