well way back when (early-mid 80's) my dad played in a band (they played casinos in atlantic city and toured army bases around the world) and he came up with a huge list of names. he told me the ones he remembered, and both of us agreed "Octanehugo and Soup For One" was the best, even though they didn't use it. so i use either "octanehugo" or "soupforone" around the internets nowadays, and me and a couple friends briefly flirted with a band we dubbed "soup for one" but we never really got out of the garage

well lessee, i like to think i have versatile tastes
my de facto favorite band is Steely Dan
after that i really dig XTC, The Police, The Who and Nine Inch Nails.
also a pretty big fan of Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Public Enemy and Pink Floyd as well
honorable mentions include Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, CAKE, Pearl Jam, Dead Kennedys, Beck, Bad Brains and Godspeed You! Black Emperor
i like plenty of bands beyond that, i could laundry list them all if i wanted to these here are just the ones I really enjoy - and besides GY! BE listen to pretty much any time I want
