That's a good point, with the way things are going CDs could become obsolete in the near future. The main advantage of a cd over vinyl was it's compactness, you could slip a cd into your discman and listen to it wherever. But now mp3 players have taken over and people only listen to cds at home on their stereo, but why listen to a cd at home when you could listen to a vinyl record with better sound reproduction.
I probably will get a new turntable soon but i'm a bit weary of converting vinyl to digital, i'm not really sure what the sound quality of the file would be like. But a lot of new records come with download codes so you can download the digital product as well.
