I know right, because it still drives fine! It's purely a financial write-off - it would cost more to repair it than the car is worth. Plus here's the ridiculous catch: in the state of Australia that the car is registered, once it has been written-off (whether a financial write-off or mechanical write-off) to get it re-registered you have to repair it back to normal. Because on the car's history it now has that it has been written-off. For some reason they don't distinguish between cars that are still mechanically fine even though they been written-off. It's such a bullsh
it law! Ridiculous! But anyway, I'm not complaining, because I no longer live in Australia and can use the money I get from the insurance pay out to buy a car in NZ
