Aluminum will not vaporize at the temperature you will be smoking. Aluminum cans/foil used for smoking purposes, when pure, are known to have almost no immediate negative health affects. Although, smoking or inhaling from an aluminum pipe over time can lead to Alzheimers disease, as can other forms of over exposure to aluminum.
That's basically the synopsis of some of the research I've done on the topic, my friend and I had this argument about 2 years ago, turns out he was right.
Basically, smoking from pure/clean aluminum, you're fine so long as you don't do it everyday for 20 years. But, when the aluminum is coated with chemicals and other products, all bets are off. A lot of aluminum foil is coated with non-stick products, which are usually safe because it is made for cooking. However, aluminum pop cans can be treated with several different types of chemicals during the sealing/labeling that may or may not be hazardous to inhale, as well as not being heat resistant.
Overall, I say if you're going to smoke out of aluminum, use foil. Not cans.
