in no particular order:

1. bartók (the string quartets)
2. zoltán kodály (the cello sonata, op. 8, played by rostropovich kills me every time)
3. rachmaninov (especially the sonata for cello and piano and the piano concertos)
4. mahler
5. bach (in particular the 6 cello suites)

i know it says top 5 but i also adore dvořák and debussy.
