I have chronic migraines, too
They totally knock me out for 24 hours: fainting, vomiting, the lot. I've actually been in hospital from them because the vomiting means I couldn't eat for days. However, if you're a chronic migraine sufferer you can be prescribed a special nasal spray that works by going through the tissues in your nose/ head and constricting the blood vessels. A migraine is different from a headache as it involves the dilation of the blood vessels in your brain. A lot of people I know have been complaining of migraines, then take the special migraine medication and it doesn't work because they aren't actually experiencing a migraine but instead a bad headache.
But if you know you are a chronic migraine sufferer, I highly recommend the nasal spray. It's called Immigran and when you feel one coming on (i.e. the funny vision etc) you spray it and your blood vessels constrict and the migraine is settled. Highly, highly recommend it, it is a amazing.
