I couldn't open up the song on my computer without changing security settings, Aidy, so I'll wait to listen until I get on another computer.

I thought the lyrics were cute because they *are* describing something so simple and commonplace. I like the way the lyrics end with the fake id memory. Including that little bit of personal trivia amused me and makes the song sound even more real. Also, I like the image of the dilapidated buildings.

Wait. A 3 mile walk. Doesn't that take an hour?! That's a pretty long walk if the person goes to and from work on foot, an hour one way. Maybe the person carpools to get to work, and so just has to walk home. "High street" sounds so...so...Cambridge. Your walks there are definitely more pleasant than my city walks, I bet.
