Picked up a few interesting things as of late-
Dan Fogelberg - The Innocent Age (1981)
I've always thought this guy, who normally gets lumped in with all the Adult-Contemporary late 80's crowd of sappy singer-songwriters, was fairly underrated - this album is an honest-to-God epic folk smorgasbord of West Coast late 60's nostalgia and post-psychedelia..sort of like the band America without all the shi
tty songwriting. Hell, this may be the best soft-rock album of all time, and I'm lovin' it quite a bit.
MGMT - Congratulations (2010)
Although I'm probably not alone in this, I'm hella glad this bunch have kicked the Indie-pop thing from their debut and shifted towards songwriting that's hazier, stranger, and generally a lot more interesting from start to finish. My inner proggie would like to point out that the 12 minute Siberian Breaks is fantastic also.
