I guess the last scene in Taxi Driver is a good example of his skills. The usual dramatic use of the music, the recurring overlapping shots from opposite angles, the inserts with the mix of formats, the montages, his story telling technique, the rawness of the streets that he excels in portraying... well the list goes on.

uck off. scorsese is a genuine auteur, i believe, though none of what you've included in your laundry list except maybe his adeptness at portraying street life hint at what makes him a unique american filmmaker. i hoped my question would implore TSC to provide a bit more detail or analysis of this man whose methods he refers to as masterful. that would be preferable to his constant vague nondescript claims, no?
