That's not really an unpopular opinion, I'd say it's actually the typical rockist perspective. I personally don't subscribe to it though. There was a lot of great music in the 70s and there were a lot of people experimenting, definitely. But that not unique to the 70s, you can find lots of great music and experimentation in
every era.
