The actor who plays the janitor is called Neil Flynn. He was originally only cast for the pilot and wasnt intended to be a recurring character. He was so funny that the character of the janitor became a regular feature in the show.
The last season of the show was fairly pointless but it could have been alot worse. I actually thought it was better than the last two "proper" seasons of Scrubs. I think the janitor was in a few episodes of it as well by the way.
