I swear, you put more thought into the movie than the director does

Mainstream media classes them as chick flicks, so thats how the world sees them. Then if you actually take the time to see the movie for yourself, you realise its not your typical chick flick, but instead has much more substance and depth of character, storyline and issues. Their relationship isnt fairytale, but at the end of the day, its still a relationship. And that what the movie centers on. Therefore, making it a chick flick. Titanic is a romantic drama, but seeing as for years its basically been the mother of all romance films, it is now viewed as a chick flick.

I dont think I've ever seen The Full Monty, but Richard Curtis is not terrible. His early stuff (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones) is really rather enjoyable.
