It had a non-linear plot, an unusual structure, references to music, a great sense of gloom around it. Something that's not seen in chick flicks. But in people's mind sets it's got a boy meets girl - so it's a Romance. It's got Comedy.. so it's a Rom-Com? No, it's well off the mark. Having relationships in films doesn't make it a chick flick, having love in films doesn't make it a chick flick. You can have them two things in film. Relationships are the main thing surrounding a film, lots of films have boy and girl who are in love. Edward Scissorhands = boy meets girl, they had great affection for each other. You can tell when you see a chick flick, 500DOS wasn't that IMO.
Watch The Full Monty. Don't ask questions, just do it! Richard Curtis makes films for women. Horrible director.
