Well, you DO seem mature, Vanilla. You seem an interesting mix of bravado and serious soul-searching, which always makes me think of you as having lived a lot of experiences that take time to have.

Frequently taciturn? There. Is that better? To be honest, I used to think your posts were short and dry and you didn't have a sense of humor. But you do. When you talk.

I actually was just wondering last week where you had disappeared to and if you were coming back...partly because I want to hear about your trumpet-playing! I'm glad to see you have returned...although it took me a moment to remember who you were.

My personal theory is that a 30-year-old is starting to feel life's brevity more, realizing youthful dreams that "life will get better someday" may not be true, and this is as good as it gets. So, a 30-year-old may act more cynical, more resigned, and less perturbed by disappointments, because they are expected and have been survived before.

A 25-year-old still has teenage dreams lingering on and so may be more excitable, because life still seems to have a lot of possibilities.
